Talk talk talk...

Didn't get a game tonight, since I got to talking and suddenly it was late. I did get to lay my worries to rest, and stop fretting about using eSkarre instead of pDenny, but I still waver a lot on the issue of heavies with pDenny. With the Focus cost for Scourge, I'll be relying on the Skarlock to apply debuffs, and that's a poor strategy. Instead I decided to see how many guns I could pack in a workable pDenny list:

Should prove to be fun, and with a massive melee presence when the ranged has thinned the ranks. It's still manageable at just over thirty models, even if a lot of them are solo characters.

  1. Received a PM, due to technical difficulties posting comments here. "Why Saxon? Ok, he has a gun, which is nice, but not that great. What about a little upgrade? Leave Saxon (you don't need his pathfinding ability with Denny), drop both nightwretches and get 2 Defiler."

    So why Saxon indeed?

    Withershadow Combine & Bane Thralls both suffer a lack of flow, and the Arc Nodes as well. Bringing Saxon means I can use Pathfinder on the Bane Thralls, allowing me to Ghost Walk a more important thing, like Nyss Hunters or an Arc Node, to get them out of combat ([I]or through obstructions[/I]).

    He's also another ranged stealth model, and will benefit from Dougal MacNailes extra powder. With AD he can threaten enemy solo characters from turn one, which is always nice.

    Finally we have the funny, and little known fact, that he's a melee monster. Enemy Warbeasts, meet Saxon Orrik during The Withering, with Parasite up, and a friendly Bane Thrall nearby. MAT 9, 4d6+17 & 3d6+15 on a charge. (Against a Dire Troll Mauler, he's doing around twenty damage on average).

    Should the beast survive, it faces an entirely different problem, as hitting defense 15 while affected by The Withering is rough, and missing is bad for the health.

  2. I don't need more anti-infantry, but beast heavy armies are a problem. Bloats also deny me parts of my own battlefield, which I don't much like :)
