Taking stock: Available models

I've warmed to the idea of a little break from Cryx, though I'm not giving up my dear robot zombies. I figured that step one would be to inventory my available models, since money is tight the next few months:

Casters
  • Drake MacBain
  • pMagnus
  • Calaban
  • eCaine (and a pCaine I might be able to repair)
Jacks/Beasts
  • Mangler
  • Renegade (2)
  • Talon
  • Thunderhead
  • Axer
  • Ironback Spitter
  • Gun Boar
Units
  • Boomhowlers (Min
  • Trollblood Champions (Full)
  • Dannon Blythe & Bull
  • Nyss Hunters (Full)
  • pAlexia (Full Risen)
  • Devil Dogs (Min)
  • Croe's Cutthroats (Full)
  • Aiyana & Holt
  • Swamp Gobber Crew
Solos
  • eAlexia
  • Bosun Grogspar
  • eEiryss
  • Gorman
  • Gudrun the Wanderer
  • Journeyman Warcaster
  • Madelyn Corbeau
  • Dougal MacNaile
  • Fell Caller Hero
  • Ogrun Bokur
  • Orin Midwinter
  • Ragman
  • Rhupert Carvolo
  • Rorsh & Brine
  • Wrong Eye & Snapjaw
  • Saxon Orrik
  • Totem Hunter
  • Harlan Versh
  • Thor Steinhammer
  • Stormsmith Stormcaller
  • Sylys Wyshnalyrr
That's not a bad collection (where the hell did that all come from?), though it seems to point in the direction of another Warmachine faction. Maybe I should take a look at Cygnar, as I've always liked Jonas Murdoch, and he allows me to include my Nyss Hunters, but a Hordes list would be preferable.

A couple of the guys told me I could borrow anything I wanted to test, so I guess it's time to read a lot and crunch some numbers. Looking at the list I could go for:
  • Trollbloods: 60+ points worth of models that work for them.
  • Cygnar: 80+ points worth of models that work for them.
  • Khador: 70+ points worth of models that work for them.
I know Khador rather well (lot's of them in my meta), Cygnar has been on the rise (three new Cygnar players) so Trollbloods is looking interesting.

  1. That's a lotta stuff!

You could also go with Mercs (MacBain, and so forth), if you really wanted, but I think that Mercenaries might not be play the way that you want an army to play :)

  2. I've considered it, but I must admit that Cygnar is pulling ahead at the moment.

Khador isn't far behind, because while Trollbloods appeal more to me right now, I see the need for a massive collection to create variety, and having 80+ points worth of stuff I can use with Cygnar, is a major selling point.

  3. Well, I do have 60 points worth of things that would work with Trollbloods, but none of them are big expensive beasts.

  4. Yeah, you'll definitely need more beasts, and preferably big ones! You know what they say about problem solving and Dire Trolls :D

Cygnar isn't a bad idea; there is some real good fun and power to be found there, that does not necessarily stem from denial and debuffs.

  5. I just keep finding new things I love about Cryx. I just made a list of all the best weapons to steal with the Cankerworm, and now I want to try and "catch them all".

Still, I can make a fully functional Cygnar list for almost no monies, so why the hell not.

  6. There's a lot of fun in Cygnar. I like the Caines. Try the Haleys. Your opponents will probably still cry foul :)

Now trolls, I do like trolls. Just started them and from my perspective they are fun.

I'm interested In hearing how you Cygnar exploits go.
